As parents-to-be, you deserve a break before your little one arrives. A babymoon is the perfect opportunity to reconnect and relax. If you’re considering Florida babymoons, look no further than the serene and picturesque Amelia Island. This charming coastal gem offers a blend of relaxation, adventure, and romance, making it an ideal destination for your babymoon. Here’s a guide to help you plan the perfect Amelia Island babymoon.
Why Choose Amelia Island for Your Babymoon?
Amelia Island is known for its inviting beaches, historic sites, and lush landscapes. The island’s laid-back atmosphere is perfect for expectant parents looking to unwind. With a variety of activities suitable for couples, you’ll find plenty of options to create lasting memories before your new arrival.

6 Amelia Island Babymoon Activities:
#1. Explore Fort Clinch State Park
Start your babymoon with a visit to Fort Clinch State Park. This historic site features well-preserved Civil War-era fortifications and offers scenic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Take a leisurely walk along the beach, explore the many trails, or enjoy a picnic amid the beautiful surroundings. The park’s natural beauty provides a perfect backdrop for some memorable photos.
#2. Take a Sunset Cruise
What could be more romantic than a sunset cruise? Several local companies offer tours that allow you to enjoy the breathtaking views of the sunset over the Amelia River on the west side of Amelia Island. It’s a peaceful way to spend an evening together, soaking in the natural beauty of Amelia Island and keeping an eye out for dolphins.
#3. Visit the Historic District
Wander through the charming Historic District of Fernandina Beach, where you can explore quaint shops, art galleries, and local boutiques. The area is rich in history, with Victorian architecture and a few cobblestone streets that add to its charm. Don’t forget to stop by the Amelia Island Museum of History for a glimpse into the island’s past.

#4. Best Brunch Spots
If you’re staying at our popular oceanfront vacation rentals Amelia South L6 or Amelia South C3, walk right across the street to The Surf Restaurant. This mid-island restaurant offers brunch as well as lunch and dinner. Enjoy classic brunch favorites like fluffy pancakes, delectable omelets, and even seafood options. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a great spot to enjoy a leisurely meal together.
For a more luxurious brunch spot, make a plan to visit Pogo’s on the south end of Amelia Island. This chef-owned restaurant offers a delightful brunch experience where everything on your table is made entirely from scratch by Chef Alan. Picture buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy, cornmeal waffles with chicken, maple butter and hot cause, and crab Benedict with blue crab and a corn muffin.
The Twisted Table is another option in the Historic District of Fernandina Beach. The breakfast sandwich with fresh prosciutto and sourdough bread is a must! Our guests staying on the north end, like at our Amelia Island beach house 624 N. Fletcher, or in an oceanfront condo at Terraces at Beachside, can reach The Twisted Table in under 5 minutes via car.
#5. Spa and Relaxation
Treat yourselves to a day of pampering at The Spa at Omni Amelia Island Resort for your Amelia Island babymoon. This luxurious spa was fully remodeled and opened back up to the public in 2026. It offers a variety of treatments designed to relax and rejuvenate. From prenatal massages to soothing facials, you’ll find the perfect way to unwind together. The tranquil setting and attentive staff ensure a memorable experience. Our Beach Wood Villas, Lagoon Villas, and Sandcastles Villas are all within a short walk of this spa!

#6. Beach Day
Nothing says relaxation like a day at the beach! Spend some quality time together on Amelia Island’s beautiful shores. Bring along a beach blanket, umbrellas, and snacks for a cozy day of sunbathing and enjoying the sound of the waves. Coastal Elegance Meets Southern Hospitality
Few places capture effortless romance quite like Amelia Island. The island’s historic district in downtown Fernandina Beach adds an entirely different vibe with its Victorian architecture and oak-shaded courtyards—ideal for couples who prefer vintage character or a classic garden wedding.

The island is small enough to feel private, yet large enough to offer world-class resorts, fine dining, and professional event services. Venues range from grand oceanfront resorts like The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, to historic chapels and elegant yacht clubs. Whether you’re hosting a lavish weekend celebration or an intimate elopement, the island’s venues cater to every wedding style and budget. Beach Days and Water Adventures
Amelia Island’s beaches are among the most scenic in Florida. Wedding parties often plan group outings like dolphin-watching cruises, kayak tours through the salt marshes, or paddleboarding adventures at sunset. For thrill-seekers, chartered fishing trips or sailing excursions add a touch of excitement. There are truly so many water adventure activities on Amelia Island. If you’re getting married at Walker’s Landing, then be sure to book neighboring properties in the Amelia Island Plantation. For those getting hitched at venues closer to the central or north island, check out our Amelia Island vacation rentals in complexes like the Oceans of Amelia. If your dogs are tagging along too, Destination Amelia’s pet-friendly vacation rentals would be ideal.
Golf and Spa Escapes
The island is famous for its championship golf courses, including those at the Omni Amelia Island Resort. Groomsmen can tee off at one of these Amelia Island Golf Courses while bridesmaids indulge in an Amelia Island Spa Day—the wellness offerings here are top-notch, from ocean-view massages to sea salt body scrubs. These relaxing experiences double as great pre-wedding bonding moments.
Historic Exploration
Downtown Fernandina Beach is a treasure chest of history and charm. Guests can browse antique shops, sip wine at quaint cafés, or take a carriage ride through the fabled streets. For a fun group activity, consider a private ghost tour or historic walking tour that shows off the island’s colorful past. There is no shortage of historic sites on Amelia Island.
Local Cuisine and Celebrations
No wedding weekend is complete without great food—and Amelia Island delivers. From fresh-caught seafood to Southern-inspired cuisine, local restaurants like Salty Pelican, Wicked Bao, Mezcal’s, and Timoti’s Seafood Shak make rehearsal dinners and farewell brunches memorable. Don’t forget the iconic shrimp, a regional specialty celebrated at the annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival.

A Destination That Feels Like Home
What couples often find most special about Amelia Island is its atmosphere. There’s a warmth to the community and a relaxed pace that instantly puts everyone at ease. The island feels intimate and personal—perfect for making your wedding celebration reflect who you are as a couple.
With a well-connected regional airport nearby and convenient access to Jacksonville International Airport, travel is easy for guests, too. Once they arrive, most find themselves saying what so many do after a weekend here: they can’t wait to come back.

In 2024, our team at Destination Amelia Vacation Rentals held our 2nd Amelia Island Photo Contest to celebrate another year of incredible guests and their experiences on Amelia Island. The annual contest, which launches in the fall, invites travelers to share their best trip photos from their recent stay with us before the new year arrives. Our team loved receiving so many excellent entries and is now thrilled to announce the winners!
1) Beach Scenes Category
The first photo contest category was Beach Scenes: images of Amelia Island’s pristine coastline. We received entries featuring our guests walking in the sand, their children and grandchildren splashing in the waves, seagulls soaring, and golden sunrises. Without further ado, Maureen Beytagh of Ohio is our Beach Scenes Category Winner with this classic scene of a soft Amelia Island sunset with pink hues. Beytagh shared, “I walk to this location every day, as it is one of our favorites on the island. We were happy to share this photo with all of you!”

2) Landmarks Category
The second photo contest category was Landmarks and guests were welcome to send their photos of recognizable Amelia Island landmarks such as historic homes and sites. We received some stunning entries of the marina in downtown Fernandina Beach and of Walker’s Landing in the Amelia Island Plantation, which is home to an ancient burial mound dating back to the Timucuan Indians. Congratulations to Bess McCall of South Carolina for this submission of Fort Clinch! In her snapshot, you can see the large scope of the fort’s design and its positioning on Cumberland Sound. A row of cannons points across the St. Mary’s River into Georgia and are silent testimony to the strategic importance of Fort Clinch during the Civil War.

3) Enjoying A Destination Amelia Rental Category
The third photo contest category was entitled Enjoying a Destination Amelia rental! Our favorite entry was a peaceful image entered by Steve Dubanoski of his view while “enjoying the sunset from the rear patio of 2129 Beach Wood.”

All three of these category winners receive a $100 gift certificate that’s applicable towards a stay anytime with Destination Amelia.
4) Grand Prize Winner!
Now we are thrilled to announce the Grand Prize Winner of our 2024 Amelia Island Photo Contest …. Crystal Thomas of Connecticut with this sunrise image! Our team loved how her photograph captures that quiet, breathtaking time of day when the first morning light is cresting the horizon. We love the warm orange and yellow glow and how the boardwalk directs your eyes up the path, past the dunes, to the ocean. Crystal will now get to enjoy a 3-night vacation at one of our Destination Amelia vacation rentals for free! Major congratulations to Crystal!
